EDWARD ELGAR'S WELSH CONNECTIONS

Despite being thought of as the quintessentially English composer, Elgar lived for most of his life next to the Welsh border in Worcestershire and Herefordshire and in close communion with the rivers Severn and Wye. This talk will explore his connections with the landscape of his 'sweet borderland' and of works either inspired by or partly written in Wales.

CYSYLLTIADAU CYMREIG EDWARD ELGAR

Er ein bod yn dueddol o feddwl am Elgar fel yr ymgorfforiad perffaith o'r ysbryd cerddorol Seisnig, bu'n byw am y rhan fwyaf o'i oes ger y ffin gyda Chymru yn siroedd Caerwrangon a Henffordd ac mewn cymundeb agos ag afonydd Hafren a Gŵy. Bydd y ddarlith hon yn edrych ar ei gysylltiad gyda'r tirwedd yn y 'mwyn ororau' lle bu'n byw ac ar weithiau a ysbrydolwyd gan neu a gyfansoddwyd yn rhannol yng Nghymru.
